Golf Injuries: Cause, Treatment and Prevention

At Physicians Plus, we are dedicated to improve both the professional and amateur golf athlete alike.

Nearly 80% of all golfers suffer from one type of injury or another and most injuries involve the back. Swing faults, poor conditioning and loss of flexibility and strength cause the majority of injuries.

Many swing faults are due to tight tissues and joints, causing the golfer to swing off plane and off balance. A tight joint is often beyond the golfer’s control. Stretching of these tight muscles and correction of joint dysfunction can correct many swing problems.

Additionally, most golfers are unaware of the unbelievable amount of stress their swings place on their backs. Golfers frequently continue to re-injure themselves due to poor swing mechanics as well as a lack of rehabilitation.

Treatment

Physicians Plus teams the certified sports doctor, physical therapist and massage therapist in a program that will reduce the injury to the spine and extremities. Our staff has the background in orthopedic evaluation, case management, biomechanics, advanced chiropractic techniques, sports medicine, rehabilitation, exercise and the ability to integrate each to meet the challenges of the golfer with back pain.

Our professional staff will add distance and accuracy to your game while reducing the risk of injury to the back. The swing motion recommended by Physicians Plus integrates a “stabilized spine position” to enable the golfer to reduce strain during the rapid motion of the golf swing.
